Since my early tracks, I've truly grown to appreciate the 303. It really has become the voice of God for me, but as time goes by I'm always finding new instruments that are quite intriguing as well. There is something about the 303 though that is able to tell people about life and the state of affairs in the world today. I cant explain it, but it seems to speak a language across the world. Either you understand this language or you don't.
I like dissonant sounds, but I think it's more the sequencing that matters with Acid. I like the 303 to be a little bit played out because most people try to write predictable and conventional linear melodies and linear sequences. These people are so naive to the power of the 303. Instead, I'm particularly interested in the way complex non-linear sequences work together. Like somtimes I do multiple 303 tracks where each unit is running at a different time schedule. I try to make the tracks symbolic of nature, because with nature, everything's running at difference schedules and cycles.
I've sort of left the 303 behind now, it's time to move on. I reached a point where I felt my approach was coming to the end of the road. You see I needed to slow things down a little, because you do really need to walk before you can run.

Yes we use a 303, but we are trying to use it a different way than everyone else, we use it with lot of effects and guitar-pedals. It has a really orgasmic sound !

I sold mine and I'm proud of my action ! I think it keeps you away of creativity, because it's too easy to get something nice sounding. It has been over-used these last few years.
I got my first 303 back in 1987/88, when everybody was into digital synth and selling their analogues. Today I own 4 of them in case one stop working. Like HardFloor my success is based on some 303 tracks, but I'm def. not obsessed by the 303 and I also made some good tunes without any 303 in it. I bought each and every 303 clones that came out since 1994, but I dont use them as 303 clone but like any other synth because they could do much than the 303.
Dont be limited to a 303, try something else on different machines, a song isnt good because it features 303 sound, a sing is good because it is good, period.
There was no interest in it at the time. Unfortunately, it's timing was too early and the sales weren't too good. But later, it became more popular !
Everybody thinks Hardfloor equals 303. You hear a remix and think "oh, that's Hardfloor - isn't it?"
First of all, it's really nice that we have our own signature in the music: you hear a record and you can say it's a Hardfloor record. This is really important, if you can get a face for the people. But we are not a 303 band. We started off as just electronic dancefloor. We had two releases on Eye Q without the 303, and then we did the hard trance Acperience, and it was so successful that the people made us a 303 band. We thought, okay, it's a really nice instrument, we can do a lot of different stuff with it, and if the people want it this way, we do it this way. But now it's time to change. We also can use other equipment. We have a very big studio with a lot of old synthesisers and new synthesisers and we like to use them all.
Note : well they are maybe not a 303 band, but they own 9 TB-303 !!!
